About the Box

Our boxes are for Little Explorers of all ages! We find that children from 1 to 11 (and beyond!) can enjoy the activities in different ways.

We've deliberately moved away from "age labels" because you know your little explorer best. Our activities are designed to be open-ended, and our safety policy (see below!) puts you in charge of deciding which components are right for your explorer.

A surprise! Each box is built around a special theme (like our "Great Garden Picnic" or the "Little Explorer's Christmas Expedition"). Inside, you'll find several curated activities and all the sensory materials needed, such as:

  • Sensory bases (e.g., playdough, or taste-safe mixes)
  • Special ingredients like our "Explorer's Elixir"
  • Fun sensory fillers like our "Textured Treasures"
  • Tools for scooping, sifting, sorting, and playing
  • A set of instructions to guide you and your explorer through the adventure

The photos on our website are a great example of the fun and value packed into every box. However, a few specific contents, tools, and colours may vary. This is part of the surprise! Rest assured, every box is thoughtfully curated to fit the theme and provide a high-quality experience.

Safety (Please Read!)

Your child's safety is our top priority. Adult supervision is always required during playtime with our boxes.

Our kits often contain small treasures that can be a choking hazard. These items are always packed in a separate, sealed, and clearly-labelled bag. This allows you, the supervising adult, to decide if and when these parts are appropriate for your explorer.

"Taste-Safe Fun" is our promise for specific sensory activities! We use non-toxic, pantry ingredients (like flour, oats, coconut and food colouring) in some of our sensory bases. While they're not a snack, you can rest easy if a little taste-testing happens on the adventure! All other play items are for play only and are not to be eaten.

We take allergies very seriously. Because our kits are assembled in a shared-use space, we cannot guarantee they are free from specific allergens.

  • WHEAT: Our playdough and some sensory bases do contain wheat (flour) and are therefore not gluten-free.
  • OTHER ALLERGENS: We do not actively use any dairy, nuts, or eggs in our sensory play items. However, we cannot exclude the possibility of trace allergens due to shared equipment.

Please note that our "taste-safe" items are for stress-free play if a little taste-testing happens—they are not food and are not intended for consumption.

If you have a specific allergy concern, please contact us at letsplay@littleexplorersbox.com before you order. We can let you know the ingredients in the current box and, if possible, assist with a replacement.

Ordering & Shipping

Currently, our themed boxes are sold as one-time purchases. The best way to hear about new box launches and limited-edition runs is to join the "Little Explorers Club" (our email newsletter)! We hope to offer a subscription service one day, so if this would interest you please let us know, we’d love to hear from you!

We currently ship to explorers all across Australia.

We offer a flat rate of $8 shipping on all orders, anywhere in Australia.

Our expedition team works fast! We typically process and pack orders within 1-3 business days. After that, delivery times depend on our shipping partners (like Australia Post) and your location.

Please note: If you are purchasing a PRE-ORDER box, the shipping date will be listed on the product page and your box will be shipped on or before that day.

Little Explorers Subscription Box

Each month we will deliver to your door Each season we explore a new theme. This summer we're exploring the Great Garden Picnic.

During this season, our subscribers receive one box each month. For December you'll receive our Buzz & Bloom Garden Box. January is our Little Green Thumbs Box, and to complete the series, February is our Teddy Bears Picnic Box.

Subscribe today and receive our Coral Reef Creators Box. This box is the final in our Spring, Under the Sea Series and has been an absolute crowd pleaser already!

Absolutely! You can subscribe any time and you'll recieve the current month's box. But if you've missed out on previous boxes from the series you may find them on our SHOP page until sold out.

Subscription Box Billing & Shipping

Your First Box: When you first subscribe, you will be charged for your first box immediately.

Ongoing Subscription: For all future boxes, you will be billed automatically on the 25th of each month. This payment is for the box that will be shipped out on the 1st of the *following* month.

Your First Box: We want you to start exploring right away! Your first box (the one you sign up with) will be packed and sent within 1-3 business days of your order.

Ongoing Subscription: All subsequent monthly boxes are shipped on or around the 1st of every month.

Here’s a simple example:

  • You subscribe on November 10th. You are billed immediately, and we ship your first box (e.g., the Coral Reef box) right away.
  • Your first *renewal* charge will then be on November 25th. This payment is for the December box, which will ship on December 1st.

You are in complete control! You can manage your subscription at any time by logging into your customer account on our website.

From your account portal, you can easily choose to skip a month, pause your subscription, update your address, or cancel. Of course, if you have any trouble, you can always email us at letsplay@littleexplorersbox.com and a real person will be more than happy to assist you. No AI chat bots here!

Returns & Support

As your purchase is covered by the Australian Consumer Law, you are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure. If you believe your box is faulty or has a major issue, please contact us right away. We do not offer refunds or exchanges for a simple change of mind.

Oh no! We're so sorry to hear that. Please email our support team at letsplay@littleexplorersbox.com within 7 days of receiving your box. To help us solve this quickly, please include a description of the issue and a photo of the damage. We'll work with you to find a solution!
